Best cab for Orange TB 1000?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

My Orange TB is currently matched to a TC RS210 + TC RS212. Using it with a P-Bass. Bass knob is usually at 9 o'clock and the sound is still a bit too bassy and not quite tight enough for my taste.

Got a killer deal on the TB 1000 so I made the switch from an Ampeg Micro-VR rig which I loved but I was lacking volume on some occasions even with an extra cab.

Also I didn't go for the Orange isobaric cabs as they're too expensive for what they are IMO.

I also need the rig to be easily transportable so no heavy 4x10's for me.

Someone suggested the Berg AE212 but I would preferably go with something more old school looking.

Thanks!

Seems like not a lot of people around here have had any experiences of any sort with the TB heads...

I had the 500 watt version for a while.
You better get a stout cab for the 1000 watt version.
The 500 watt'er had more power than I ever used.

If you're gonna push the head, and use distortion, get a cab without a horn.

Chef couldn't he just turn off the tweeter/ horn? Looking for a cab without a tweeter can be annoying and there are some really good cabs that you can just turn the tweeter all the way down on.

Sure, you could.
But you'd also likely be dealing with a cab with a more modern voicing, that won't be it's best with the horn off.

For instance,
an SVT810 cab does it's thing way differently than an EPI UL620 with the horn off.

I'm currently considering a Matamp 212 but I can't try one at the moment so I don't know what the voicing would be like with that amp.

I want something that has an old school vibe, punch and is able to cut through anything a bit like my Ampeg Micro-VR rig could. Yet I want to keep it modular or light weight to a certain extent.

Actually, I'd bet that two of those micro svt 210AV cabs would kill with that.

Sound-wise I think you're right. But volume-wise, I'd be afraid to destroy them.
