For a Stick, it seems like a great 3 way cab would be the ticket...something with real deep lows because the Stick benefits from a little help there, IMO. Then a good mid driver and compression driver to bring out all the detail and extended range of the instrument. |
Another vote for the Neox- I use a pair of 12's and think they match great with the Streamliner.Surprisingly a single Neox 12 hangs in there pretty well for smaller gigs-and Ive had the pair out for bigger outdoor festival gigs.Pushed harder but they took it with no problem. |

Originally Posted by StickBass Viva the lightweight revolution! Gotta love a 900W tube amp that weighs 6.5 lbs! Now I'm looking for the ideal cab(s) to go with my awesome new Genz STM 900. I'm at the gear paradigm crossroads. I play primarily rock of different flavors, fingerstyle and pick with occasional slapping. The main reason I chose the STM over comparable featherweight amps like the TC RH450 is the girth of the sound and the ability to drive the tubes to overdrive. I use quite a bit of drive in my sound at times, to the point of "full face melt," as Ed Friedland put it in his review of the STM 900. I like a pronounced upper-mid grind and some aggressiveness in the highs. But I also like to be able to tame it down to flattish hi-fi tones. I play active 5-string basses with pretty hot output. I have to compete with loud guitarists using Mesa Boogie and Peavey 5150 amps, and loud drummers.
My other criterion is weight. I'm not into the 100 lb 4x10's anymore. Just sold my Eden D410XLT. I want a loud, lightweight cab that can grind. A one-cab solution would be awesome, but a modular rig that would be scalable for different sized gigs would also be great. I already have an 8 ohm Avatar 1x15 neo with tweet (which i turn off because it's crap with overdrive). It's nice and lightweight, but I'm not sure the 15" sound on its own is right for me. I might keep it and add a 2x10, or if I find the right one-cab solution, I'd get rid of the Avatar. | What you are describing, in my opinion, is the Baer ML112. I use one with my Streamliner 900, and it does everything you are looking for in spades. The mid-driver sounds incredible when you push the tubes to breakup. |

I may mimic his statements that I consider absolutely dependable. taking apart personal taste it has been said that:
- the STM does compliment better with tight sounding cabs, better if closed.
- cabs with a certain mid bump in frequency response, if possible in the 1-2 Khz area, where the STM is very polite sounding
- cabs with an extended bass response and full-range systems could be too deep and bassy for some
- cabs that are scooped in nature, like some Epifani, seem to be a bad match for some
- usual brands and types that perform well with the amp include the Bergantino AE series (AE410 or 210, even 112), the Schroeders (the common lack of very deep bass of these cabs proves to be useful in this case).
I have to add that even if the amp is capable of massive perceived lowend and volume, my cabs have never struggled at giving what they took in terms of watts. this is an apparent absurd thing, because we all know that mechanical abuse usually occurs before hitting the thermal power rating of a cab (in my case Ae210 x 2 = 800 watts total).
But with the STM and its fabulous power amp and limiting technology (that acts as a high-pass filter cutting sub bass significantly) the speakers have an happy day delivering all that tone and volume.
As an example, my speaker system does compress and begin to fart with a 550 watts Thunderfunk before the amp delivers its maximum power, but those same cabs never showed signs of "fatigue" with the mighty STM 900 pushed towards its limits power-wise...cool eh?
And, this is also more impressing considering that the STM sounds much more meaty than my Tfunk...in this regard, with little tricks of smart engineering, the STM almost seems to fight the laws of physics...
To Kjung: happy Xmas man

On the other hand during the STM900's brief stay in my quiver I did run it with the neox212 - that was/is a nice light weight combo.

It's amazing with my Blast Cult one4five, and any number of electric basses. But I'm in the middle of editing video for a Genz NX2-212t demo, and I must say the head sounds STELLAR through that cab! |

Very close to pulling the trigger on one of these.
