I've used many different cabs and heads, but the cheapest one of I've had sounded the best and also the loudest for a single 1x12 and it's pretty light at 39 lbs, which is the Avatar SB112 with the low frequency version of the neo driver. Back when I got it, it was $250 new. I've tried other 1x12 neos that were lighter with more expensive drivers, but none of them sounded as thick and as loud as the SB112. |

This is the Avatar B 112 delta. They make it just a few miles down the road from where I live. Great company and the cabinet is very reasonably priced and sounds perfect for me.Even the low B comes out like it should. The company has endless combinations of vinyl and grille cloths and piping.
I have two of those cabinets and love them so much I can't even imagine wanting anything different. | Yum! I have two of those in black rat fur. Yours is genuinely pretty. |

Many have come and gone, and my Mesa(s) still remain. I've had 4, and still have 2.

I'm sure I left out some cabs and messed up the order of things. |

+1 for Bergantino cabs!
Love the NV610 with my Ampeg SVT-II non-pro! Tone heaven!
Oops...wait...the NV610's are now discontinued, so I guess it's not a "today" cab (even though some dealers still have some of them in stock).

(which was a big factor in the company going under) My best cab choice is the Epifani PS410. I tune to D standard on a 5 string (A D G C F) so the extra low end extension of this cab makes that low A nice and meaty. Epifani's, in general, have the most musical sounding tweeters (aside maybe from the dome tweeters accugroove used) IMO and the mids sound natural, not nosey or scooped like most other 410 cabs. Plus they take GOBS of power without distortion. (I've been running 1000 watts RMS through mine with no issues for quite some time now)

But who cares? A blues player using a P with flats would likely sound like crap thru Berg AEs.
Type of music is a huge differentiating factor here.

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones?
I guess the cutting out issue as well as the whole 'accuswitch fiasco' really didn't help the company at all. From what I understand though, the supposed reason for the company going under was health related.
Still, I couldn't be happier with my choice. My Whappo Jr. paired with the Tri 210L (both accuswitchless) seriously kick ass.

I think most of the problems were with the El Whappo cabs. If I remember right each driver has it's own internal cab and crossover, supposed to be like a true 4 way FOH system. Unfortunately instead of having true crossovers and separate amplification for each driver like a FOH system you have 1 amplified signal passing through a handful of (I'm assuming passive) "crossovers" (high and low pass filters). You can see where trouble can start as/if these networks fail and start causing drivers to cut in and out. It was a good concept, but maybe not so well executed.

The slap G will also be cheaper than the Tecamp and easier to move. For a smaller gig I can take just one cube and jam at a supper club or somehting where you're just background music etc. At 8 ohms the Puma500 is rated at 300 watts. Plenty loud enough for a small club.

Type of music is a huge differentiating factor here. | Definitely genre and band setting are the determining factors here... For my modern rock/rock/metal band, I can't imagine anything working better than the Mesa PH810 I'm currently using, and my PH215 just kills for classic rock, blues and modern country... I've been using a RR115 for a quieter local blues band lately, and that's working really well - there's really no need for the 215 in that situation...
Mesa cabs work really well for me, but who's to say what might work better for another player???
