Best Combo for $600

Looking for combo suggestions for a combo for about $600..
I would like something nice. I can go up in price. Not looking for cheap stuff. Would like pro gear.
Can go up to $1000 for the combo. I have looked at a bunch, but since there are no stores that carry anything like any of these, I would like your suggestions..
I have looked at the SWR's, EA, Markbass, and a few others I can't even remember.

The big bargain in high-quality combos is heavy, discontinued units. GenzBenz Neox400 is 59 pounds, 1-12" ,an amp that runs like 450 watts at 4 ohms and can do 4 ohms, and I saw one on Craigslist in San Diego for $600. Would have bought it myself, but I have two flights of stairs to contend with. Someone on talkbass has an Iamp unit for sale that's less than $500 and probably kicks booty, but is also in the 55-60 pound range. Eden's old CXC combos, particularly the later series, sound good and also fall into this range.

If you want to pay a bit more, for lighter stuff, there's MarkBass and GenzBenz. Pay more still for a 60-pound Aguilar that couples the GS112 cabinet with the AG500 head - sounds great, but also back into the 60-pound range.

Anyhow, if willing to buy used, and also willing to carry some weght, lots of good stuff in this range.

Well currently I my rig (rack only) weighs in at 74 pounds. 60 pounds would be a good drop in weight.

Check em out!

The new GK combos are crazy light for what they deliver and priced really nice. Also consider the Mesa Walkabout. A little more spendy, but the tone is money.

Beat me to it.

I mean, I haven't heard it mind you, but based on the specs alone (and the fact that it's GK, and I can guestimate the tone pretty well), I want.

If we're talking about brand new prices, GK is, by far, the best option in that price range. You might be able to do better going used, but those little GK combos are tough to beat. Light, loud, sound good, and inexpensive.

For $1000 you could probably find a very clean Mesa M-Pulse 600 Venture, which IMO is the Mac Daddy of bass combos. The later ones are 2x12 and the earlier models were available as 1x15 or 2x10.

+1 for a sweet toneful Mesa combo. Used, you should be ok. There's the Walkabout Scout 12 and 15, the Venture, as mentioned above, also a newer M6 2x12 combo, and if you like tubes, there's also the Bass Buster, 200 all tube watts through either a 15, or 210's. All sound different, but all sound great. No cheapness to be found anywhere in or on them.

I paid well under $600 for my Peavey BAM210, used. 350W by itself, or 500W with a 4 ohm extension cab.

I used it at an outdoor festival thing a while back with an Aguilar 410 extension cab. There were a few hundred people at the festival and you could hear the bass loud and clear at the opposite end of the grass field where everybody was (with no other amplification on the bass - i.e. the band PA was handling guitar, vocals and kick drum, but not bass guitar).

+1 on the Mesa Boogie Venture.

I just picked one up for just about what your limit is. Granted it is the older 2x10 model, but HOLY CRAP is is awesome.

I've been using the Nemesis 2x10 combo for some time and have been utterly delighted with it. It is from the first set of them, so not as powerful as the current ones (200 watts vs. 300 or 350 now) and doesn't have those inset handles, but unless I'm playing a big room without a PA it does all I need. And the tone is fantastic.

I'd like to get the Nemesis 4x10 to go with it at some point, or buy Nemesis drivers to replace those in the old Peavey 1810 cab I have that's currently functioning as a table in my bedroom.

I wish I could find one to try out... seems like I will never play one as they are always sold out or their availability dates get pushed back.

Markbass CMD151P

Now that the new version is out (with attenuable DI being the only difference), these can probably be had for around $600.00 if you're patient.

500w @4 ohms, 300w @8ohms, 15" speaker, only 46 lbs.

I got mine for $550.00 used/like new. I love it.

I'd agree in recommending the 2x10 ampeg combo, or my favorite the BA115H with the tube preamp for a little more warmth.
