best combo for 5-string

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi people,

I'm looking for a relatively cheap combo amp that will have a good low end sound for a five string. I'm pretty new at this stuff, but i've read reviews of some combos that say they don't accommodate the 5th string very well. any ideas?

it's usually the cabs that don't handle the low B so well and seeing as most combos are trying to maintain a reasonable size, they tend to use a 112, 115 or 210 cab. most often (and this is a big generalization) you would get the best low end response from a combo with a 115 but if you really want good low frequency response you need to shop for lots of power and specific cabs that are tuned for those lower frequencies

but to be honest, you can get a decent low B (you hear mostly the upper harmonics anyways) from most commercially available cabs/combos so I wouldn't worry too much about it... preferably try out the combos you are looking at and see if one stands out to your ears, thats more important than how well they produce the low B IMO

Check these (2) Combo amps, they aren't on the low price end but they should be able to do the task. I would buy either one if was in the market :
