Best couple of 1x12 for Walkabout

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello
I'm looking for a couple of 1x12 cabs for my Mesa Walkabout. They have to sound well and to be light, my backache doesn't let me choose a bigger cab. I play in a Metal-core band... any suggestion? I'd like to know what do you think about cause in Italy is not so easy to find 1x12 cabs to test. I'd like to have 2 or 3 brand that I can look for. Now favorites are GK Neo 112, Epifani UL 112, Mesa powerhouse 112. Now I have a walkabout scout cab (12") but it's 4ohm, and I'd like to have 2 cones at least. unfortunately walkabout scout at 8ohm is not imported here...
thanks

Those are some good options to start with, for sure. I'd add the Bergantino AE112 to your list. It is fairly light, and efficient enough to be driven well by your Walkabout. The Bergantino HT112ER is a huge sounding 1x12 that would probably do a great job on metal-core, but I'm not sure if the Walkabout has enough juice to really open them up. The PH112 is a good bit different sounding than the Walkabout Scout cab. The PH112 is going to be more extended, both lows and highs, and the Scout is going to be more "vintage" sounding.

Tom.

If it were me, I'd opt for a pair of the Powerhouse cabs, but would rather use a 2x12 with wheels.

I seem to remember a lot of people here liking the Aguilar GS112/Walkabout combination a few years ago. For whatever that's worth.

My order of preference is
Walkabout ext cabs (37 lbs ea)
Epi UL2-112s (new ones are about 35lbs ea)

or if you want lighter still

GB Shuttle 12s
