What would be a really good combination of head and speakers? I'm shooting for either and Ampeg head and speaker, or a GK head and Mesa speaker combo. is there better? i'm looking for a tool sound with reverb, phaser, looper, flanger, etc.

2) There are dozens, maybe even hundreds, of great combinations and options out there.
3) Why a GK head and not a Mesa head? Why a Mesa cab and not a GK cab?
4) The head and speakers have almost nothing to do with the effects, except that some people prefer an all-tube head with distortion effects specifically. |

I doubt that GK has a bunch of Mesa heads around when they test their cabs, and I doubt that Mesa has a bunch of GK heads around when they test their cabs.

| | | There are not good combinations, your hear is the best judge. Off course you have to consider that any products come from the brand to work at 100% with his "relative". Usually a X head work at full with his X cabs, off course sometimes head and cabs from different brands work great together too, but is a small portions of chances, the products are designed to work perfect with each other same brand line. Anyway as i said at begin, you should try by yourself, same bass for every one.

Cheers. Enrico | You definitely need to try them for yourself. As you can tell, I'm sold on the new Acoustic 360. The last bass amp I'll ever have to buy. You should try it before making your final decision.

GK1001 --> Mesa PH212 or PH410 is a good start before going all-out Justin.
I would recommend the M6 but that's a bit pricier than the GK and JC uses the GK heads, so... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
