Best Head for Ashdown ABM 4x10

Sign in to disble this ad
I have just bought an Ashdown ABM 4x10 cabinet. I had to buy it because it sounded so good. I have no head to run through it (only got it today), so I need to get one which would sound good through it. (The guy was running it with an Ashdown ABM 500 head which was not for sale)

However, I only have £200 ($295). I realise this isn't enough but to get the Cab i had to blow most of the budget. I was gonna go for the MAG series.

So yer I need something which is cheap, good quality and outputs atleast 300watts (preferably more).

You can pick up used ABM heads for £200 - here's an ABM 300 going for £150:

There's a few more there too and don't forget eBay/Loot/Gumtree!

It depends on what kind of sound you want and what music you play. On a budget, a used Trace Elliot, Ashdown or Peavey head is your best bet. You can also get some old tube heads for that kinda money.

You liked the sound of the cab WITH AN ASHDOWN HEAD. Anything else is just guessing. Get what sounds good to you.

The cab is indeed awesome and heavy as hell!

I use an ABM EVO III 500 head and it sounds amazing through Ashdown cabs. So to answer your question get an Ashdown head!

Oh and don't get the mag series. They have crap resale value and obviously aren't as good. Can you not save up another couple of weeks or a month whatever?

The boy above is right, get on ebay for a bargain abm head, always loads on there going for less than what they're worth.

Heres an EVO II head on ebay (pretty much the same head as i have except no compressor - its not that good anyway) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
