Best hybrid amp these days

Sign in to disble this ad
Been out of the loop for a while loving my wt550. Are there any amps out there now that have surpassed eden or is eden still the best in terms of that hybrid tube amp?

I sold my Eden WT400 recently and purchased a Genz Benz Streamliner. Couldn't be happier...

What terms? Tone, quality, usability, features...? There are many out there that never considered Eden "the best in hybrid tube amps", so you may get better responses with a more specific direction

My favorite so far is the Streamliner series followed closely by the Mesa Walkabout

I'll add my vote for Genz Benz Streamliner. The tonality is amazing!

Tone and right out of the box plug and play. That deepness and warmth of the eden especially when combined with and eden cab really has my ears

I know for a while markbass was the competition for eden but eden still set the standard and was used by many bass players (especially gospel) is that still that case?

The best hybrid amp these days? Different amps are "best" for different players. This is not intended to be a slam on the OP, but I wish people would ask questions like "What's your favorite hybrid amp, and why?" instead of "What's the best..."

My favorite hybrid amp these days is an Ampeg SVP-PRO tube preamp and a Crown XLS1500 solid state power amp in a 3-space rack case.

i've never played through or ever considered buying any Eden product. In my mind they never were the best for anything.

You should also audition an Ampeg SVT-7PRO also. Especially if you like Ampeg tone...

Orange Terror Bass - Vintage, Gritty, Really loud for 500 watts, my current head, I run through a Bergantino NV610.
Mesa Walkabout - Amazing Tube Tone, Great EQ, Not super loud, but if you use a good 4ohm cab it should work in most situations. Works great in the Walkabout combo also.
SVT Pro 7 - Great Ampeg Tone in a hybrid, loud, light, rackable, IMO the best of the hybrid Pro series.

+1 to the "there is no best" anything comment, and MY favorite hybrid amp is Mesa's Walkabout, hands down. But, I also loved my SVT 6Pro. It's all just personal preference anyway.

Got rid of a WT400 several years ago, and I've only been using a Hartke LH500 for the past two years. My favorite amp ever - tube, SS or hybrid.

If the WalkAbout counts, it gets my vote. I'm LOVING this amp. All these comments about the Streamliners tho make me want to try one!

Gotcha. IME, the Genz Benz Streamliner, TC RH450, and Mesa Walkabout "micros" have really got some depth and warmth going on, with my personal preference being the Streamliner. As menitoned in this thread, the SVT 7-Pro, Aguilar TH500, and LMII/III are said to be pretty warm as well, but I don't really have any in-depth experience with them. Going bigger, the Mesa M-Pulse 600 is probably the warmest full-sze hybrid I've ever played.

Love my 3pro!
Love my LH1000

Can't wait for the Hartke Kilo!!

Statement about the different hybrid for different players is bang on the money! We are all different and with so little choice out there for gear compared to guitarists, we should embrace and love what is available, even in its cheapest form!

If you like the Eden sound, there won't be much out there that will compare to it.
