Best looking AND compact combo

I've seen the threads about great living room amps and smallest combos for club use - I'm looking for a living room practice combo with fantastic style AND compactness. So far the Phil Jones Briefcase takes the prize - any challengers?

Meh, style is all relative. I love the look of my pretty dark red cabinets and big white (grey) and black heads. For a living room I'd want a 30-50w tube amp with a 12" speaker in a well carved but unobtrusive wood case probably.

Sorry, but the Walkabout has to take this one. Black vinyl bronco, nice grill cloth. Oh yeah.

I played a briefcase and an AER amp 1 side by side at Atlanta Bass Gallery and IMO the AER kicked PJ butt. But at three times the price it should. Just my opinion.

IMHO a 10 or 12" speaker combo is not compact. I've got a Markbass F1 head and a GK MB200 head and 2 Markbass 2x10's if I need them - this amp needs to be SMALL and unobtrusive. I'll admit the AER and the Mesa are great looking amps and the TV Bassman, well its a classic, but no tweed in my living room. The wood cabinet idea sounds nice but is anyone doing a furniture grade micro combo?

Most combos with a similar size would destroy the briefcase, which is a pretty weak sounding combo.

Genz Benz Shuttle 8" or the Acoustic Image combos are good options...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the Genz Benz amps are not stylish. The Acoustic Image amp is not as stylish as the PJ but the specs are impressive - seems about double the price.

The Briefcase is pretty cool, but if you don't need the batter-power option, I might steer you towards the Flightcase BG-150, instead. It's slightly larger, but lighter, louder, and it matches up with the new PJB PB-300 powered 6x6 enclosure.

Here's the Briefcase next to the Flightcase BG-150:

Although it's a little large, I'll have to agree that a well-appointed Walkabout is about as classy-looking as it gets.

Flightcase is cool - I heard about a Cub? I don't need the battery option for sure.

It's pretty important to put the Briefcase with the back side at no more than a few iches from a wall, or even better, in a corner. Anyone testing it who didn't will never know what it might offer.

Yeah, the Cub is very cool, too, but not as loud as the BG-150, of course.

Volume not a big issue for me in this situation but now that I think about it, it might be cool if I could accompany someone singing and one acoustic guitar with whatever I purchase - you know, the small cafe gig.

Then I'd prefer the BG-150 over the Cub.

I love Markbass too - maybe remove the yellow logo and cover in tolex?
