Best micro head for SVT-410HLF

Sign in to disble this ad
I am looking at possibly getting a mirco head to go with my cab. I currently use a SVT4-PRO, and love it, but the weight on it really bothers me.

Possibly going to make a switch to a micro head if I can find a suitable replacement.

Any suggestions?

The Ampeg 7pro would probably match up really well. It's not really a micro but it's not heavy either.

The 7 PRO sounds very much like the 4 PRO the few times I have tried it.

The 7 Pro is a great amp, but I didn't care too much for it when paired with the 410HLF. Too boomy. Love how it sounds with the 410HE, though.

I'd say 7 Pro, too, although the PF500 is more of a match for the 410HLF's power handling, but if you're careful not to turn up the 7 Pro too loud, it's freaking great sounding. And the boominess in the 7 Pro can be dialed out.

I run a PF 500 thru a 410HLF for a loud classic rock band.
Great combination, thundering low end and mids that cut thru without much
dial twisting. Add a Fender Jazz with flats and its all I'll ever need and
I can lug it all without poppin a disc in my back

I run a 7 pro through a 410HLF. As jimmy said the boom can be dialed out. The boom referred to is from the cab. Personally I don't think its boomy and i can't imagine you do either since you own it. I just don't crank the bass knob. The sound cloud in my sig is a quick/crude recording I did in my basement with my fender jazz (neck pickup 100% bridge roled off, strung with dead chromes) 7 pro and 410hlf mic'ed with a audix kick drum mic. Or here is a live recording from a condenser mic behind the crowd (outdoor gig no pa support, jazz with bridge pick up rolled off dead chromes, and a pick). In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed - Cover - YouTube Or check this out for a more modern scooped sound (recorded in a real studio, jazz bass both pick ups full with either new d'addario XLS or DR sunbeams, listen to world groove). Go try a 7 pro, I think you'll like it.

I haven't tried it but I'm willing to bet my GK MB500 would sound killer through the 410hlf.

I ran a 700rb-II through the hlf for awhile and thought it sounded great. If the mb500 is anything like the 700rb then it's definately worth looking at.
