Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys,

i wanna sell my car and switch to a smaller rig since the last years have brought us superlight, yet great sounding equipment for the bass.
my first idea would be an aguilar tone hammer 500 with either an epifani 2x10" or a 1x12".
what do you think? any suggestions? thanx for your help!

cheers,
peter

Well, for me it's a Markbass Little Mark III head with a Traveler 151P cab. I'm digging the sound and weight.

well, i play a lot of different stuff and i found out that i dont really need a massive amp because if a gig gets big, you can always put yourself in the monitoring.
up till now i have used a 3x10 epifani and either an aguilar ag500 or an ampeg svt classic.

I just picked up a David Eden WTX264 and an Ex112 cabinet. Nice pure Eden tone and it's all one trip including my bass. I wouldn't say it's the loudest thing but it's been plenty for me playing to a 300 person church running though the Pa.

For alot of gigs, since I run through the PA 99% of the time, I take my Markbass LMII (6 lbs with a gig bag you can put on your back like a backpack) and my Ampeg 210AV (25 lbs) I tell you, at 2:30 am, the load out is awesome.

then a 112 or 210 should be great. personally I love the sound of the gs112, but it is on the heavy side compared to others. . .

never played through an Epi cab so no experience there. The Markbass cabs would probably be the first place I'd look if I had a clean slate. A little "big" but if the ny212 was around when I got my cab I would have got it no question! But the 112's (and 115's) look nice too. fwiw I have a buddy who used the traveler 210 for a long time - he loved it.

Glad to hear someone else say they like the Markbass look. So do I. I've thought about getting a Traveler 102P cab for small gigs (my single 151P is sometimes more than is needed), but I still need to get another 151P cab for the bigger shows. My wife would kill me if I bought two more cabs, lol.

I meant the look of the specs/reputation Not a fan of the yellow, but wouldn't stop me from buying it . . .

(oh, and keeping the wifey happy w/ gear purchases trumps tone and appearance! )
