No Hartke Love? Well, all my bass amp experience has been with my Hartke vx3500, and I'm quite happy!

Brands are a matter of personal opinion. Everyone will have a different answer for me:

Ampeg, Eden, EBS and GK are great but each have their own unique tone.

I haven't tried a TC bass amp yet but I plan on it. I have some other TC electronics and they are spectacular, top notch. I do not doubt their bass gear is awesome too.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a hartke HA5500 and the 4.5xl cab. I've been thinking of getting a different rig but thats because this thing is so hard to move out of my rehearsal space not becasue I don't like the way it sounds.

Now maybe to a real stage show where I have a bit more control, then I'd probably do it.
Jimmy's bass in that picture could easily be worth more than a vintage amp.

I just plug into a old pair of pumas and I'm up and running.

Not that particular amp, though...it was restored by Jess Oliver, so the price went way up

That's an Upton Hawkes, BTW...I got one when it was still relatively inexpensive ($1500), then Upton exploded a few months later and the price went way up within a matter of two years. Now they don't make it anymore. LOVE that bass! Best playing and sounding plywood bass I ever used.

Gigging bassist joke:
Q: what's the best bass amp?
A: the one that's already at the venue.

JimmyM nailed it! There's your answer.

Well what do you want? You asked people their opinion and they're giving it to you. If you can't afford it, you should have specified a price range.
