Best practice amp (for home use) for 5+ Strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, couldn't find this thread anywhere (surprisingly).

I pretty much have decent amps available to me when I gig (mostly church, studio or college jazz band gigs), so i'm looking for a good practice amp for home (don't want to use headphone amps)...nothing big (has to fit in my already crammed 12 x 14 bedroom) but also something that can handle Low B well...any ideas?

I have a GK Backline 112 for practice. It handles the low B on my Modulus just fine, and has enough power to use on small gigs as well. I love it.

What is your budget? Any desire to use it for anything besides this application?

You might be able to get away with a used 115 of some kind that would sound good; but I don't think you'll easily come across anything that is small and cheap while holding a B. There are alot of rave reviews for 112s and even 110s that can rock a low B, but they cost an arm and a leg usually.

Turn it into a multi use speaker cab/bed-side table or something and you're good to go.

Look at the GK MB210 or MB115. They might fit your needs.
