Best single 15" speaker cab for an Ampeg V-4

Sign in to disble this ad
Well, I am actually FINALLY getting and Ampeg V-4 !!!

In addition to my current speakers, I would like to have an 8 ohm single 15" cab to use either alone or combined with a 210.

I am definitely after the old school sound. Fat and full. Not new " neo" sounding.

Please suggest some cabs for me. Especially ones that did not have a great original speaker but are great when a better speaker is installed.

Thanks !!

I'm gonna go ahead and say it before every one jumps down your throat, just search 1x15 cabs or what ever you like in the thread search

if it were me it would be a TL606. If it had to move, it would be a TL606 design modded for a neo 3015. There is no 'new neo' sound. There's only drivers. Some neo, some alnico, some ceramic ... the magnet is only part of the equation.

BTW - ping TB'er Singlemalt - He has a couple of those in his garage IIRC and White Salmon, WA isn't all that far from you ... road trip ? Seeing as he's now a fEarful convert, those 606's are gathering dust ...

And I think Singlemalt's might be improved versions of the TL-606, with larger porting for higher output drivers.

Thanks ! I have read about these but have not investigated. I will also PM singlemalt. A road trip is worth it. Buying and trying and selling cabs via shipping is expensive.

Ampeg SVT-15E

I love this little 15 cab, and it pairs nicely with a 2x10 or a 2x12.

Either this or the B115E, if you want to spend a little less or you can get a deal. Both cabs sound great.

orange mini review - loud, not boomy, not real heavy, made in england so i don't know if it has the EV or Eminence Kappa speaker, it is the best cab i have played through, but then again i have always used vintage stuff up to this point, cabs seem to have advanced a lot in the last 20 or 25 years imo
