I might experiment around with something like Bassmec posted, try out some sort of pre (maybe Showman based) into say...some old valve McIntosh power amps, into some JBL loaded cabs.

However, more than likely, I'd keep with what I have: Sunn 2000s into two matching cabs loaded with JBL K140s. I might try out the Reeves 400 or have a custom build made based on a 2000s with maybe double the power? Yeah, that sounds about right.

I'd have 2 Berg HD 410's and a Thunderfunk TFB800-B2 head. Low end bliss for the soul.

As far as pure tone goes and clear mid reproduction I go for my own 210 with coaxial mid/high driver. Nothing I heard so far can come close to that.
Allthough I use my Bugera BVP5500 to drive it, for more control I could use my BBE BmaxT pre-amp in combination with a good/clean poweramp.

Reeves 200 watt tube bass head- (and someone to carry it) (2) Bareface Compact 15 cabinets. Done.

(oh and for small gigs I'd still use my TC BG250)

If Munji would have combined his thread OP with a poll, it would be clear for all to see that the best-sounding bass rig is:

drum roll

My Michael Pope Designs Mitre Box preamp into a custom lightweight 2 ohm capable (or two channel @ 4ohm each) 1/2 rack class D power amp into a Glasstone Lil G 212/210 stack. I'm already done with what I have, with this I'd be even moreso. just kind of waiting on the power amp.

My 70's V4B into my 70's 810. It will make you drool. Its one of the better guitar rigs I've heard as well.

this is my rig the sound is awesome.

it all depends on your finger size, how hard your attack is, the amp, strings, cabs, speakers, guitar chords etc. alot of variables. I played through brian marshall 's bass rig back in 98' opening up for creed and his rig sounded great to my ears even with me on it, he had svt heads, classic and a svt 11 not the pro version with 810's loaded with ev's. wow!! here is my rig svt vr with ev b215m, loaded with ev15L's and 6.5 vmr midrange driver, and mesa tl606 cabs

Unlimited funds? I commission an immensely powerful AxeFX-like effects processor that can model literally everything ever.
And a perfect cabinet that reproduces the above's output with absolute fidelity

I'm surprised everyone else is aiming so small

Either Demeter-Jules DeMonique or Baer Valkyrie into either a Big E MAS-85 or a Baer ML115 + ML112 stack.

[If I played two or more gigs per month, I'd probably go with a Bergantino CN212 for the cab because of two considerations: #1. It sounds GREAT! & #2. really nice schlept & stage-space factors.]

Backup amp would be a TecAmp Puma 900 or Genz Benz ShuttleMax 9.2.
