if you're looking for something currently made vs. an old sunn cab. check out emperor, gorgeous cabinets that more often than not have a sunn amp of some sort going through them.

come to think of it, last time i saw Sunn 0))) they were using sunn heads through emperor cabs.

I'm a fan of running 15s through Sunn heads but I'll be picking up an Emperor 2x10 once I get my tax return.

Since you have a Concert Lead (guitar head) you might want to look into 12s so you get the best of both worlds from 10 and 15s.

This came up in a recent thread. I've found the Coliseum lead to be a very tight-sounding amp, and without external EQ tending toward a lean tonal balance. So, if it were me, I'd be doing everything possible NOT to accentuate midbass/midrange. I'd choose fifteens exclusively, and in a cab with some serious extension down into the double digits and little or no roll-off on the way there. That would be for more or less mainstream rock 'n' roll. But it depends on your taste, on the music you play, and on the frequency slot in the band's overall sound you intend to occupy. Every situation's different.

Since we don't know what the amp's frequency range really is, why recommend "extension down to the double digits?" Besides, every cab will be down many dB in that range, so it's hardly worth looking for.

It isn't deep bass that carries in a band setting, it's mids. Sounds like the amp has that covered.

Real answer? Plug in some cabs and listen in a band environment. Repeat till you find what works. There is no magic answer.

A pair of 2x15's.

I don't see what the appeal is with Emperor cabs. They're pricey and get beat up easily.

I sold my Sunn Concert Bass this past weekend (for what I think is a very fair price... I like to pass it along)... The Concert Bass is similar to the Lead with a different tone stack. I consider it a bright amp. Certainly nailed that mid '70s Sunn SS grind!!!

Since I was heading close to where the buyer lived, I dropped it off. He plugged it into a Sunn 215B ('70s cab with the white baffle) and cranked it to 10... It was OMG loud, punchy, present, mid-heaven!!! I came within a gnat's a$$ of saying 'Thanks for letting me really hear it' and keeping it...

As I said in your other thread, I used to play through a Concert Lead into a Sunn stack (115BH & 115RH) and it was great. Nothing like being able to 'cut through' in a band situation

You have to try it. A 1x15 will sound nice and loud in your house, but once you get with a band it will probably get buried.

THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT HOW A CAB WILL SOUND WITH YOUR BAND. You have to try it out.
