I got a pair of these for an unmentionably low price today- I couldn't turn them down, that would have been just silly. One is blown, but they're loaded with EVs, a "B" and an "L". What would you do? Re-cone both as Bs, or replace with neo Deltalite 2515s?
Or...?

I just bought a pair of mint EV15BX's so I am an old EV fan!!They beat the crap out of the GK neo 15's and the brand new Mesa powerhouse 15's I also own.
Good score, BTW! |

Good score, BTW! | Yeah- slam-dunk stupid deal! Just dumb-lucky, the guy was sort of burdened with them and had gotten some good miles out of them apparently. It'll be a "pay-it-forward" opportunity someday. Pays to bottom-feed CL on a regular basis. I'll have to stop that though...
Alright, just for the sake of getting my own thoughts put together, here's a run-down on where I'm at concerning all this mess... presuming the reader has nothing better to do...
I just sold a pair of 3015s (neos), which I was a tad sore about... a 3015 in the old EAW box I have here was quite impressive. Filled an entire large back-yard (party gig) with deep, toneful sound. 'Tis gone.
I've since picked up a JBL K-140 in a trade deal. That's in the EAW box the 3015 was in, and it's a sweeter, more sensitive driver I think. 'Plump'-er tone, my kind of old-school. I like it better than the 3015, although it won't take the same beating: That is meaningful, it is a more limited cab with the JBL. It's a trade-off I can live with, but I definitely need something else to fill-out the tool-box.
I scored the TL cabs yesterday. Now they're heavy, but smaller and easier to deal with than the Hartke VX-215 I've been using- which I like but will probably go away now (yeeees, I could have not bought the pair of EV-loaded TL-606 cabs for $35. True. But...). Two smaller cabs are configurable where a big box isn't, and I'm willing to compromise in favor of the ability to work more situations.
I have GK 400RB and 800RB heads, and an old Trace SMX, so I'm headed toward good flexibility for anything here.
Now I'm looking to load/re-load the TLs, and want to be aware of choices, deals, pros/cons. I know it's an old subject, and I posted it last night after getting in late, just to get started. I'll do some searching around as well.
I'll probably just re-cone both EVs, but I'm doing homework here first. I do like the idea of lighter cabs! More fun! But I'm not mad at carrying the heavier stuff either, you just do it- but it pays to know options. It's not like it's an SVT... Next year...
So Vail, just by way of curiosity, how do the EVs 'beat the crap out of' the GK neos? Is it a better sound that you can qualify? Do the EVs 'break up' in a different spot along a voltage/eq curve (I don't do math, but...)? Or could it be just a case of preference-driven 'mojo' that one "learns to hear" ... I'm as guilty as the next tone-junkie. I'll probably re-cone the EVs anyway, as it may be less expensive and will suit me I'm sure. I tend to be an old-school dude.
I do believe that sometimes newer isn't better... but sometimes it is. So I'm open to ideas, thanks for reading.

I've had nerve/wrist trouble, and been out of work a spell, prompting the sale of those 3015s. Can't spend any more time bemoaning mistakes. F-k it... just play...

I've discovered, just now, that both speakers are in good shape. Neither is blown! There was a loose screw holding in a speaker, which is probably what was making a suspect noise when operating. So one has a good 15L, the other a good 15B. I will use them as-is for now...
Thank all, for the offerings.
