Best way to get to FOH with an Ampeg SVT-7PRO
What the best way to get an Ampeg SVT-7PRO to the FOH.
1. Use "Tube Direct Output" XLR on the back of the amp.
2. Mic the cabinet.
3. Use the SVT-7PRO only as a monitor and use a DI.
The reason I'm asking is a lot of forums are saying in general, do not use the output on the back of any amp, it just doesn't sound good. Is this your experience with this amp? Is this this true of all amps. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
I haven't used or owned an Ampeg ProSeries amp since I hated my pro III BUT...
tube direct out-what more awesomeness do you need?
A DI simply gives signal from your bass and bypasses your amp entirely.
Why pay a over grand for a top of the line Ampeg and then go through a $20 DI?
Mic'ing bass cabs is supposedly difficult.
Option #1- "tube direct out".
You can always run the DI on the ampeg for a few gigs and see how it sounds. If it doesn't work the way you want, grab yourself a REDDI.
