| Tha last thing I would describe a YBA as is "sterile". The non master volume versions of most amps will need to be run rather loud to experience any overdrive. I ran an older YBA1a for several years until I disocovered that they dont like 4 ohm loads. Hence the blowing up on top of two 4x10 cabs! I then graduated to a YBA3 which could run two 4x10 cabs! I always liked the tone of those amps, though they lack a bit in the low end and are somewhat mid forward when compared to more modern amps. The EQ is a bit funny, I never liked it without all switches engaged (lo and hi "expander").
Also, the preamp tubes (esp v1) can make a big difference in the tone of the amp.
I would have a hard time choosing between the two myself, so it would come down to price for me.
Fender wouldnt even be in the race.
Another thing to consider, the Traynor amps are point to point tag board wired. This make it easy for your amp tech to mod it to your liking. Not so much with PCB based amps.
