BF Bassman meets Rumble
Could use some advice before I do damage.
I restored a 65 BF Bassman with new tubes caps, etc and matched it with a 67 BF Bandmaster cabinet, with 2x12 Eminence Basslites. FOllowing old TB advice about using a Bassman for bass, I tightened the cab and filled with a good amount of polyfill foam.
I love the clarity and the tone but it's just lacking bottom end and deep bass. THe head seems better (deeper tones) with a different cab but don't want to have to buy another 4ohm cab. Plus I love the look together.
THen I tried this. Running the line out from a Fender 75 (watt)rumble, which has a decent equalizer and deep bass, into the bass channel of the Bassman. Sound is much improved, deeper, louder and much more range of tones from the RUmble. Just did it for a few minutes but the difference was distinct.
1. First off, Am I at risk of doing any damage to the Bassman.
2. Am I getting the benefit of the Bassman tube tone with this set up?
3. Or is there a better way to get the deeper tones out of the Bassman alone or with some other set up.
SOrry for the long post, but I won't run this set up again until I get some informed opinions.
