BFM bass cab and GK MB500 rocks!

I recently bought a Omni 12 TB from an authorized BFM builder and to descibe it in one word "WOW!" This paired with my ultralight GK amp and I think I have one of the best combinations out there. It absolutely amazes me!

Looks sweet! How much does the cab weigh in at? The grill cloth gives the cab a little vintage vibe. Have you played it in a band setting yet? Is that a little kickstand built into the cab to tilt it back? Too many questions I know but one sweet looking little cab.
Happy new year to you.

Care to elaborate a bit?

The cabinet looks great. I am sure it sounds great. I like the omni's with grill cloth when used as bass bottoms.

Who was the builder?

Elaborate on the kickback please. Looks sweet. Does the head slide off at all when tilted back?

unfortunately I do not have the ability to record it and do it justice but I will do my best to describe it. The builder was Db Pro Audio, and he was amazing took everything I wanted and brought it to life. Once again its the Omni 12, so its a 12, an 8, and tweeters. The grill cloth was custom, he had never done one on an Omni before, and it looks sweet! Makes the cab very low key, nobody expects much and then they hear it. The leg was actually his idea, but I love it. It puts the cab at the perfect angle. The divets on top are so my amp wont slide off when I use the kickstand.
The sound is incredible! Imagine the best 4x10 youve ever heard, and then take the blanket off of it. It is so clear, it make me feel like I have been listening to the bass guitar with my ears stuffed with cotton for 10 years now. Its only an 8 ohm cab so I'm only using 350 watts and it is more than enough for me. I run a DI to the mains for the crowd so this is the satge monitor for the whole band. I angle it across stage and everybody hears me in all my wonderful bass glory. Absolutely no problem over powering the drummer. I love the upper mids on this thing, it really brings out the character in every different bass, and bass player that has gone through it.
Several people have played through it and said it make them want to play better. It is so accurate that it really makes you notice all of the little things in your playing. Sorry for the long post but needless to say the only cab I will be buying in the next several years is another one of these, ya know just in case!

Oh sorry I forgot to mention the whole rig, amp and all weighs in at just under 65 lbs. I am way louder and way lighter than the guitar rig!

I think it was 1400 but that's for everything the cab, custom grill, kickstand, and the custom top with amp feet. He even did some cool engravings.

I have absolutely 0 skills as far as building and there is no way I could have made those crossovers and stuff. I still think it was a fair deal. Every time I called I wanted something different or something else added. I couldnt have bought a 3-way cab at market value for much less, and this way out performs anything else I've ever seen/heard.

Yes, U.S dollars. sorry! I was forced to play through a cab other than my own soon after getting this from the builder. We couldnt haul it to the show, so picked out a top of the line ampeg 4x10(we were playing a show in a music store). I couldnt beleive the difference. In order to get the same amount of volume I had to crank my amp, and the tone was very muddy and boomy. Not at all the crisp clear tone I had grown accustomed to with this cab. I will never go back to regular cabs. The ampeg weighed twice as much, was half as loud, and sounded like there was a blanket draped over it!

Very sweet. I just got an MB200 and am planning to pair it with a Jack, when I manage to either build or trade for one. Thanks for the review.

Yup. Hard to believe until you hear it. Although with my bass playing ability(or lack thereof), I might prefer the muddiness!

We are currently using a couple jacks for our mains right now and I love them! I almost decided to use 2 jacks instead of the Omni, but I decided I just wanted one cab. Good luck and cant wait for reviews!

How cool! I just love learning about new hi-fi bass rigs. I can practically hear the tones in my head already!

I recently ordered an AudioKinesis Thunderchild, and about three months ago, a pair of of Low Down Sound 12/6/1 "nEarfuls". Delivery of each should be happening within the next 8-10 weeks. The Thunderchild will be paired with my GK MB500, and the two nEarfuls will use my EA iAmp Pro. I can't wait!

After so many years of having to cope with inadequate gear, it's incredibly liberating to now have such high-end cabs finally entering the market. Truly we must be entering the Golden Age of Bass Gear.
