Bi-amp Ohm Question

Sign in to disble this ad
If I'm running an Ampeg PR-1832 when I go to bi-amp it, will I be running 2 ohms per channel? Or will it be recognized as one cab and run at 4 ohms still.

the manual reads as though each of the cabs would be at 4 ohms.

I have one of those cabs and they are quite nice except for being a pain to move.

In biamp mode, it acts as 2 separate 4 ohm cabinets. You plug your low amp into one and your high amp into the other.

If you only have one amp, you run in full range and have one large 4 ohm cab.

Yeah that's what I was thinking ya'll. I've got a QSC RMX1850HD heading my way right now so I was planning to have that power the cab. So if I biamp the 1832 I will be running 2 ohms, 900 watts per channel, into the upper four speakers (channel2) and then the 18 inch sub (channel 1). And then if I ever need to have an absolute wall of bass I could throw my 410 HLF on top of the 1832 and run the cab on full range and run it at 2 ohms with 900 watts being divided by the whole cabinet. Feel free to correct me if any of this is wrong. Thank you for the help guys!

Nope.....................

When running bi-amp, each channel will be running at 4 ohms.

No problem...........

And just to expand - If each channel of the power amp will work down to 2 ohms, then it can only be bridged at 4 ohms.

If you need to add the 410HLF to the equation, run one cab on each channel (use the 1832 in full range mode). Then you can use the controls for each channel to balance the sound between the 2 cabs.
