YES! I should be joining this club shortly. As soon as my K140s arrive, I'll put them in my cab and take some pictures!

Talking Big Big Cabs Rule!

I've got two(that's right), two Peavey W/style 18"folded horns. These are about the size and weight of a moderate sized refrigerator. These were manfactured about '66 or thereabouts, and I got them in '80. The speakers and the amp are a matched set from the factory. The amp still works, but I don't want to strain it to modern volumes. Every 4 or 5 years I have to re-glue all the joints and upgrade the speakers, but if you want to piss off everybody within range, with incredible volume and depth (36hz) they are the only way to go. Plus, 15"s and 18"s are the REAL Big Cabs . All you 8"s, 10"s and 12"s can come back when you're all grown up...grins...

So...are members obligated to repost their big cabs or what?

Fine...here's a couple in its natural environment:

Another...Same club, different night.

Not sure what I'm doing, but good shot of the cab.

Club motto - "Bass is supposed to be fat and heavy"

Big Cabs Club rules

What cabs qualify for the 'Big Cabs Club' ? One cab that has 5 or more 10", 3 or more 12", 2 or more 15", 1 or more 18". If you have something really unusual but big (like 6 or more 8" or something, Henry cabs are big cabs) that's cool too! 1516's (15" + 2 - 8") qualify - those are big cabs. And if you know the weight, let us know. Please possess the cab right now to get a number, but if you had one in the past we would like to hear about it - you may be granted 'Honorary Membership' if you convince me you are truly sorry to have gotten rid of your big cab (and that you secretly desire a new one!)

If you have a 15" + anything in one cab you qualify!
No regular ole 410's or 115's, please. These are great cabs, but they are not 'Big Cabs.'

However, some single driver folded-horns qualify as big cabs, I've seen single 10" folded cabs that were definitely BIG cabs! So if you have something UNUSUALLY BIG in a 410 #or 212 or 115, let us see it, you might get in the club!

Yes, everyone please post pics if you can so we can visualize your big cabs. But here at the 'Big Cabs Club' we trust in the integrity of big cab owners and understand not everyone can instantly post pics, and therefore do not absolutely require pics. But as said, if at all possible post pics please so we can GAS over your gear!!!

Q: "Please, Please, Please can I please get in w/ my awesome 210 its really heavy!" or "Man my big bad 410 puts out so much air!" or "I have 6 110 cabs stacked on end, can I get in?"

A: I wish you could, but persuant to section 47, line 72-88b: "...as such, all said members of 'Ole Ye Big Cabs Club' will be in possession of one or multiple bass cabinets which exceed in size your standard limp-wristed bass cabinet dimensions, commonly known to be 210, 410 and/or 115 cabs, and will display such big cabinets to the detriment of weak-hearted individuals with recklessness and will electrify such big cabinets with low-frequency amperage sufficient to cause brown-outs in large metropolitan areas..."

So while I have nothing personally against your fine cabs, the forefathers of 'Ole Ye Big Cabs Club' were very adamant about not allowing in too much 'riff-raf.' Sorry

I decide who gets in the club, and also, I decide who gets out of the club. Most of you will never get out of here alive... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

And lastly (but not leastly) "I decide who gets in the club, and also, I decide who gets out of the club. Most of you will never get out of here alive... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!"

My repost...

... that earned me H1. Not actively gigging right now, but would still consider big cabs if that changes!

Somehow I'm not on the members list. I'll track down my pictures of my rig ASAP. I'd just go take new ones, but it's in the studio (AKA guitarist's basement).

EDIT: Found it. I love that 2x15 cab. It's a beautiful thing.

Calaverasgrande wrote at the end of part 1: "Nice cabs, gotta say, its funny to me that you have a pair of shuttles which are such small amps, racked in a big ole 6 space rack. Though it is an SKB (or Gator) so I am sure it adds little to the weight."

Thanks.

Yeah, I used to have an SVT4, rack tuner and power conditioner in that SKB. Then I sold the Ampeg to get more power w/ a Carvin B1500 (LOVED IT!!). Then I got addicted to pedals, and wanted to run 2 rigs (1 effected, 1 clean). I would never wanna try to lift two B1500s up to the 6ft perch atop my 2 big cabs . It was gut-busting enough as it was!! Considered (and bought) 2 Carvin B800s but couldn't rack mount them, and they're fairly heavy too. So.... w/ the 2 Shuttles, my rack case fills like it's just filled w/ cables and such LOL. Most folks who carry it, freak when they realize it has 2 amps in it .

How do you like it? I sent an email to them a while back for a quote on a 610 and asked how to order it and never heard back.

I love the cab. Really deep lows and really articulate considering the amount of fuzz I put through it. As for Emperor's customer service... I was quoted 3-4 weeks and got it after 3 and a half months. To order you really need to call them. They do everything through paypal and aren't especially good with getting back to you quickly... or at all. I payed 50% upfront 50% when it was finished + shipping and 2 weeks later i got a tracking number after sending 3 emails asking when I could expect to get it.

TL;DNR Great cab but they need to hire a customer service rep.

ive noticed so many people swearing by the small cabs and while easy to carry and what not i cant help but compare them to a bose acoustimass system....
sit and listen to a bose acoustimass then sit and listen to a quality tower (klipch ect) with full sized bass drivers and the bose sounds like someone thumping the top of an old whiskey jug... that tubby (thump) you get when you pull a cork out of a large ceramic jug... just personal opinion and well not very experience in (bass guitar) but nothing beats moving air and just cant get that out of 2 10s... granted 2 10s can do a hella lot now days... its just not the same.... sorry to vent just had to get that off chest
gotta acoustic 406 2x15 that im rebuilding and 2 410 cabs.... cant wait for the 406 to get 2 eminence 3015s... gonna be a happy day
