i've got a collapsible hand truck that i've been using for years
seems these days the herd here is going smaller / lighter, looks like i'm going against the grain with the 4x8 & a new Fender Super Bassman SB300, so that hand truck will come in handy ( haha ) |

It'll weigh more than the cabinets do combined! |

I'm far from an expert on such things, but I think for those who are skeptical, here is an example of the same concept applied to our vision. Our brains do a lot of interpretation of things to give us a coherent image. Other empirical measurement devices do not. In the end, we are building live-sound reproduction equipment for our ears and our brains, not for microphones and computers.
I think that's a solid reason to give credibility to an expert's ears' opinions even if they conflict with the technical measurements. http://www.npr.org/blogs/krulwich/20...paign=20121129 |

| | | | cool video nice. I saw a clip, (60 Minutes?), that tried to explain a particular medical condition where the afflicted could not recognize people by their facial features.
The scientist tried to demonstrate to Leslie Stahl by showing pictures of famous people upside down, and she, (and I), could not recognize the person until the pictures were turned right side up. Fascinating stuff. |

I spent some time with one at the Chicago / Lakland get-together. We used a Tone Hammer into it. My low B was awesome and the dispersion sounded great from all angles. |

the packing with multiple layers of bubblewrap, 1/2" styrofoam & double boxed was top notch ( thanks Mike )
opened it up & fit & finish looks superb
brought it into my apt & luckily the neighbors aren't home, plugged it in & every thing works as it should ( at very low vol. i might add ) & sounds very good
have a rehearsal on thursday,, can't wait |

The 4 x 8 sounds really good horizontally with a decent tiltback. Nursing the world's worst sinus infection. Never sand fiberglass without a serious dustmask! I know better. It only takes one time! |

Rushing to get that deluge of orders out, no doubt.
Hope you recover quickly. |

Fiberglass sucks. I'm itching just thinking about it.

when it's basically a one man operation, you've got to take extra precautions to keep that one man safe & healthy
hope it passes soon |

| | | | yeah Not my main occupation, but was involved in building off and on for years. Always insulated without a mask or even a long sleeve shirt. Not to mention asbestos joint compound sanding back in the bad old days. Just removed a kitchen floor in my current house a year ago and used my skil saw to make quick work of it. That was until I noticed strange looking fibers in the vinyl. Sent it to the lab and got the high asbestos content result.
Back to wearing a serious mask now for almost every noxious task. At least I don't smoke
Don't be macho! Use protection, lung, ears, and other parts too! |

The fiberglass dust scares the hell out of me--I always wear a mask---not just a disposable one, but one of those good 3m ones designed for body shops with removable filters.
It only takes one impatient moment. Couldn't find it and was like "how bad can 10 minutes of sanding be?" I wound up playing a 5 hour gig on Saturday with a temp of 101! What a dumbass! |

I've had my Big E 4x6.5 for two weeks now and had the chance to play it with my big band, rock band, and in trio and duo gigs as well. With upright it's as easy as saying this is the best cab I've ever played though and leave it at that.
On electric this thing is very surprising. Every small cab I've played through I've been able to find it's limit pretty fast. It took me two weeks to find this cab's limit (yes every cab does have it's limit, this time it took a gig in a 2,000 seat concert hall where I could really open it up and crank the low end)
The best feature of this cab is the low end and fullness in tone when you step 15-20 plus feet out in front. 5 String players will love their low B, super tight and articulate, and I couldn't make it fart out, it just wouldn't do it. Great cab Mike, and can you make it in composite for me? Just don't eat any fiberglass this time
(I did actually eat some insulation fiberglass when I was about 5 years old thinking it was cotton candy, my older brother insisted it wasn't, I sure showed him! So I'm one step ahead of you Mike!) |
