I've got a 7 piece jazz gig in a big room, should be fun. I'll be running my parametric into the effects loop of my shuttle 9.2 as I've found that its cleaner in the mids than going through the input. I was telling mike, I wish dtar made amps, maybe I could find a lightweight power amp to mate with my dtar eq. . Loving this setup on upright. |

I'll let you know how it sounds when the band gets going. I might post some recordings too, although they won't give you much info except a nice sounding upright bass tone. This cab goes way beyond just the tone of it, it's about how the sound travels and how you can change its physical orientation to fit different rooms/ fix problems and the way it reacts to eq. |

Anyways, he was telling me about how he put the big e up on a chair and how much he liked it. Soo, at rehearsal tonight I put it up on a chair because its a hollow boomy stage, and whatta you know, much better, but still full and the lows were still there. This is what mike and I have been talking about back and forth, every room and situation I've used this in, it always sounds full no matter what I need to eq for the room.
These are a different animal of a cab, it took me about a week with the cab to understand how to use it and ever since Ive been amazed at what it can do compared to a traditional cab (which i still own, i still love my bergs) After having the cab for about six weeks now, I've used it in every configuration based on the room and my needs and it sounds drastically different (IMHO) depending on its placement and it works with different rooms better certain ways, but it always works. I have yet to strike out with this cab in about a dozen different venues. |

He loves it---I'll ask if he can post some impressions.I'm playing a 6 x 6. I'm going to make myself a 6 x 6 in composite next month. We'll see how ridiculously hard it is to make. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
