Block up unused 1/4" speaker inputs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Last night I saw a GK cab with some sort of nylon plug blocking up the 1/4" jack. I thought I was the only one bothered by the wheezing noise from open jacks, but apparently not. Anyway, I'm looking online for where I can buy some, but all my Google searches come to naught. What are they called?

Thanks!

Yeah, I needed something like that for my Mesa cabs, for the same reason - I ended up using 1/8" vaccuum caps from an auto parts store...

Just find some air plugs, they work great for blocking up 1/4" jack holes.

Am I the only one that can't hear the wheezing noise from my cabs?

But that's where the fire comes out.....

We had a soundguy with more power than sense years ago, and there really was FIRE blowing out of the back of the subs on one side.

Depending on the jack type, it may be sealed internally. Depending on the cab design you may or may not be able to hear it, but if it's not sealed you'll at least be able to feel the air moving in and out if you put your hand up to it.

Those little foam ear plugs work in a pinch.

Nope, I've never heard it myself. It seems like you need to be behind the cab to hear it, and how often does that happen ? But, these would probably work : http://www.widgetco.com/hole-plugs

You just need to stand farther away ... it takes 28 feet for the wheezing sound wave to develop. Then it will only happen if there is enough co2 in the room, and you need to have a maple fretboard and an active bass.

Depends on the cab, I suppose - with my PH610, I actually thought I had a cab rattle or driver problem, and all it ended up being was air being pushed out of the two 1/4 jacks - I plugged 'em up, and it was gone... Since I'm only using speakon these days, I found some decent plugs, and plugged both up - although I can get 'em back out if needed without too much difficulty...

It's suffocating because oxygen free copper was used in the cab's wiring.

I sealed the 1/4 jacks internally in my BFM cabs.

Why not just use jack plugs? Chopped off dead cables will do.

I have, but I keep it secret because only NOS can bring the TONE, and I don't need people who won't appreciate TONE depleting my supply (it is the same supplier that SRV, Hendrix and Clapton used, he was also friend with Jim Marshall).

It's 30 feet with a Badass II, but I used threaded inserts to make it go away...

I only have wenge and ebony fingerboards that must be the problem.

My cabs have front ports and I have never heard any wheezing coming from the 1/4" hole in the back.
