Blown fuse in Hartke LH1000

Sign in to disble this ad
Last night at a show I was playing and then nothing. I thought it was the wireless unit as it was the first time I ever used it, but it was my amp. The fuse blew, bad. The amp was hot, but not more than normal. I opened it up and nothing smelled bad and nothing was burnt.

So my question is do I buy another fuse and try it. If so it is a 15a 250v fuse that I believe to be a 5mm x 20mm but I don't know if it is fast or slow.

I have already called Larry Hartke and left a message. I know his service is second to none, but I don't want to be without it if I don't have to.

A blown fuse is not a problem, it is the solution. The fuse sacrifices itself before damage can be done to the internal components of your amp.

I would put another fuse of the same rating in it, then try firing it up. If it blows again, don't try it again. Take it directly to be serviced as there then would be something wrong.

Every once in a great while a fuse will blow as an anomoly. Try a second one and see what happens. Do NOT try an use a fuse of a different rating. Your manual "should" tell you what the proper fuse is.

Yep....the question was does the amp come with a fast blow or slow blow fuse installed. Knowing how the fuse works is why I took it apart and looked for burnt stuff and bad smells, luckily found nothing.

More than likely fast blo. Easy to ID a slow blo as it is more than just a piece of wire inside the glass.

Hey "The Man 53"

You can replace the fuse and see if that works, if it blows again or if you can't find the right fuse give my service manager Joe Antonelli a call 1-800-328-2882 (New York) and Joe will get you back in business. If you need further help I'm always right here 201-680-8153 Cell. Thanks for playing Hartke!

Just wondering...how much electricity does the LH1000 pull? I was thinking of getting a power unit like the battery back up on my computer but don't know if it will work or how big of one I would need.

Larry helped me when my LH was acting up. It's now back to normal delivering the tone I want...with oodles of headroom.

It is fixed. Turned out to be a power amp let down. I think it was a spike in the power, but I don't know. They replaced it in less than 7 days and I am back playing. Just wish I knew for sure what did it so that I could NOT duplicate it in the future.

And again...

After my lh1000 broke back in dec. i had to buy another amp since i had shows coming up. I got my lh1000 back about a month or so ago. I havent used it since i now have 2 others that i have been using but it did turn on and work when i got it back. I just went to hook it up and do some comparing to my other amps and it did the same thing as before, i ready to throw it out a window...

Hey Paul,

Before you throw it out the window make sure no one is walking below! But allow me to help, where was your amplifier serviced at a service center, or did you send it to us?

Whenever I read a post like this I wonder just what the amp was connected to. Modern SS amps tend to be quite reliable if used correctly. So Paul what cabinets do you use???

Another

Semi-related question . . .
Mr. Hartke, am wanting/needing an LH1000, but can afford only a "refurbished", or "B stock" unit. Are they (the ones say, from dealers) checked out at your place?
Am already a 210c owner - want to pair the LH1000 with a (similar to above) HyDrive 410.
I apologize for being a less-than-flush buyer . . .
