Blown speaker, GK Backline 112

A satisfied 5 year run paying some jazz with this compact amp till 15 year old bass player son tries volume at 11.

Likely will replace speaker. GK offers 3, the least expensive is the direct replacement. The basic speaker is 50 Hz, the next, if it will slip in, is 37 Hz.

Would I notice the difference for $20? or am I asking for trouble? BTW, the kid uses a drop "D" tuning.

The new MB115 rig is beautiful!

Frequency response of the spkr is almost meaningless. Too many other parameters to be concerned with that they DON'T list. I'd get the exact replacement, and watch the use, volume and low eq.

There is no way to get 37hz out of that box. I own one of these, and they are like 1 cubic foot net maybe.

Either get the cheap speaker or stick a Basslite S2012 in there. A beta 12 would work OK too but not quite as well.

The stock driver is likely to be less boomy than either of these though it's impossible to say.

* the best choice for one of these boxes is an Eminence 3012HO, but they are very expensive and won't have as much "apparent" low end -- sacrificed to tame the boom.
