Question Blown Speaker Options? (in Trace Elliot Commando 12)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,
Recently enough I picked up a Trace Elliot Commando 12 amp. Picked it up for €80 because its speaker is blown, I think. Even still, keeping it below half volume is fine and you can get pretty nice sounds out of it.
What should I do with regards to new speaker, getting it fitted etc.? Thanks
I'm new here by the way so if this is in the wrong place or anything let me know

The trouble with the amp forum is there's so many threads that it's easy for the only person who knows what works in your combo to miss the thread.

If you don't have any more luck here I'd try asking Trace Elliot

Trace uses a lot of custom drivers. If you could get the t/s specs you can go looking thru driver spec sheets for something similar. Without the specs it's a roll of the dice for any random bass driver.

The other thing you could try is look at the cab and figure out it's dimensions and then go to Eminence and look at their stock ported box designs for something similar.

Yeah I had trouble finding this thread myself.

Well I've found a speaker that seems to be identical to the one in it, which I think is the original.

It has a 100W RMS which is the same as the amp but I was thinking if I put something more powerful into it it maybe won't blow again?

thanks

The stock spkr was used because it matches the cab it's in. Using an identical replacement is ALWAYS the best option, but you could also have the blown spkr reconed for less money.
