Blue tube light inside GB Shuttle 9

Does it have to be on as an indicator of a properly functioning tube section, or is it just cosmetic?

Thanks

Do you mean the Streamliner 900? I wasn't aware of a blue tube light on the Shuttle heads. I could be wrong since I'm not familiar with the shuttle heads.

Shuttle

In addition to the normal orange reddish glow, there is/ was a blue LED type light emanating from the top panel tube "window"

That blue light was one of a few things I disliked on my Shuttle. I ended up putting black tape over it.

I'm at a loss then. I know the blue light that glows through the window in the front of my streamliner stopped working and everything still worked fine. I wasn't aware there was a tube window on the shuttle. I'm curious to see what you find out. If you don't want to wait around here you can probably just PM agedhorse.

Best of luck.

How do you PM with an iPad?

krutonlowend 03-18-2013 06:01 PM

Man I suck, I can't answer any of your questions! Can you bring up his talkbass profile? If you can access that, there should be an option to send a PM. I know that's how I do it from the iPhone. I'm not sure if the iPad makes it completely different or not.

No problem. I'm curious to hear what you find out. I've been thinking about picking up a shuttle to have as a spare.

rodl2005 03-18-2013 06:20 PM

I'm SURE it's purely cosmetic. A 12AX7 doesn't NEED a blue light to work :-)

mystic38 03-18-2013 08:41 PM

the cool blue led helps offset the heat from the tubes in the preamp tubes and so stops the fan from coming on...............

rodl2005 03-18-2013 08:50 PM

Oh yeah, there's that.

svtb15 03-18-2013 09:37 PM

the shuttle 9 has a blue LED that you can see through the grid in the top of the amps cover.. Its behind the tube.. It is strictly cosmetic.

Thanks everyone

Case closed and confirmed by Agedhorse that it IS purely cosmetic.

How can you do anything but LOVE Genz Benz?

JimmyM 03-19-2013 11:40 PM

Genz Benz for sure but I have no big love for blue LED's. Yeah, they're easier to see in the daytime, but they're blinding at night. We play this one place that puts up a camera and shows us on the TV screens by the stage, and the soundman told me I had to turn my REDDI around because the blue light totally washed out the shot. OK, so they don't use the best camera in the world ;) but it's intense.

agedhorse 03-20-2013 12:02 AM

Jimmy, I'm going to have to add some blue LEDs to your monitor mix ;)

Once I'm hypnotized, please don't make me dance like a chicken.
