Bose PA towers for bass

Sign in to disble this ad
At rehearsals (jazz and old R&B), I have been playing through a Bose PA tower with 2 subs, and I love the sound, nice and clean, especially the even dispersion, and lack of point source peakiness. I assume the goodness is in the vertical array of small speakers. Has tried this out, or used a tower with a different sub, or tried to make a vertical array to be used with a sub?

Bill Fitzmaurice, your input is appreciated.....

Vertically arrayed drivers work. OTOH the Bose is a very cheap, shoddily made product. Just imagine what a well made vertical array sounds like.

The bose arrays do pretty well in acoustic settings. They get loud enough, and are an easy system for a one man carry. I like the idea behind them. Everything fits in a bag. They just dont sound great at louder volumes. The bass cabs aren't great either, and you need a lot of them. The real problem is that the whole system is very expensive, especially extra sub modules. I don't own a set, but if I did, I would probably purchase with a separate powered sub and save some money.

So true. :-) But they look great! (snark)

Would you know what the towers contain? I'm wondering if it's possible to make my own vertical array(s) and use it with my MB212 or similar bass amp..

This started off with an idea of getting another MB212 and stacking them, but the Bose towers caught my ear
