Is a "bridged" speakon cable OK for normal use?

Sign in to disble this ad
Back when I was using a power amp/pre rack, I had a "bridged" speakon cable made to use when the power amp was in bridged mode. I don't quite understand while a special cord was required, but apparently it was. There is an end labeled "power amp" and an end labeled "speaker". Since I'm not using that set up any longer, is that speaker cable OK to use with my Shuttle 9.0 and Schroeder cab?

Yes but you have to change the wiring on the amp end. Currently you'll find it wired +1 and +2. Simply move the wire from +2 to -1 and you'll be fine.

NO not ok,
the bridged side is wired +/+ you need to open the ends up and wire the bridge side to match the cab side and it will be regular connection again. All you need is a small Phillips Head screw driver to do it.

Well, you got a yes and a no.

I'll go with a "yes but" you won't hear a thing. So that's the third answer.

It needs to be rewired as described before.
