Question Broken Gk 1001RB - New Mark Bass Head??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

I currently own a Gallien-Krueger Neo410 4 x 10 Bass Cabinet with the GK 1001 RB head which just happend to go on me. Like a lot of us I'm looking for something lighter but without loosing the punch so I came accross Mark Bass. I Had never heard of them till not too long ago. I've seen a lot of good reviews about them. I've been looking at the Little Mark 800 and the Little Mark Tube 800. I've always played solid state amps so I'm curious on playing a tube head. Any advice on which to pick?? Will they provide enough punch?? I play mostly medium to some big size gigs so I defenetly don't want to loose any power. Also if it helps my Gallien-Krueger Neo410 4 x 10 Bass Cabinet works at 8 omhs and at most of our shows I have PA support.

Thanks!!!!

Don't overlook the Little Mark III. It'll drive that cab beautifully and you could even add a second matching cab and get the full 500 watts at 4 ohms.

Tried it no tweeter output, and Intermittent noise and popping sound coming from the woofer output. Apparently GK had some problems with this head and these are manufacture defaults. I know this sounds stupid but I've owned the head for two years and it wasn't till now that I found out about the no tweeter output. It never worked so I never noticed it. However the intermitten noise just started recently so that's why i brought it in. At the same GK doesn't want to take it becuase it's passed their 2 year warranty. Sucks!!!!

it may be off warranty, but a good tech might be able to fix it,so before you run out and buy another amp at least have it looked at....

I'm sending a 10 year old GK head to the factory to have it repaired.
You just have to email them, get an RA#, send it out and they'll fix it (if you pay for it).
That, or sell it as is and let the buyer do that.

Funny. I have gk 1001 rbii that did pretty much the same thing and just went and bought a markbass tube 800. i haven't played it with my bass/cab/effects yet but i borrowed it to a local bass player for a gig he had tonight and it sounded FANTASTIC!! From what ive gathered so far it seems a warmer and thicker than the gk(a plus to me). i like the weight and i cant wait to play around with it on my own rig. i love talkbass.
