Well I can only tell you what I've been hearing... If those drivers are similar to the aluminum ones that came in the Behringer cabs they aren't very stout and prone to disintegration. You may be better off searching for a whole set of 4 reliable drivers that have specs that work with your box...

Do you have a number off of your disheveled driver?

you can just go to behringer.com and follow the links to support.
They are everywhere.
Why would you buy a cabinet with a blown speaker?
Maybe it's just a loose wire? Push on the cone, if you feel scraping it's blown, otherwise get a meter and check for open, hook up a battery to the terminals and see if the cone moves, ...

I just bought a slightly used (two months old) Behringer BB410 Ultrabass cabinet and I believe the same thing has happened, one of the speakers is bad. I just posted a thread about it tonight too...

the original aluminum coned Bugera speakers had an issue with the cone seperating from the surround. This problem was pretty much remedied when Behringer moved the production of the speakers into their own factory and quit out sourcing them.

That said... you can contact any Behringer dealer who should be able to order you a replacement driver. Failing that, one of the repair centers listed here should be able to get the driver for you.

http://www.behringer.com/EN/support/...formation.aspx

Failing that, contact Behringer directly at 425 672 0816 and ask for Customer Service. They are very helpful.

thanks for the replies...
I bought the cab off craigslist...
loaded it up in the parking lot of a target...
I asked the folks if they'd stand behind it if it was defective, and they said they would...
so when i got home, and discovered the rattling cone...
did the tests(as stated above)... and called the folks...
they agreed to replace the speaker...
aint that cool?... there's still some good people out there...
so now i gotta do the footwork to find the replacement...
thats where i was hoping ya'll could assist.
question: short of spending 100 dollars or better on some uber-fancy replacement, whats the comparable replacement?
I play Jazz Fusion primarily...not a metalhead...

If your only replacing one (not all 4), then you need the matching speaker.

Mixing speakers does not work well, and could cause damage.

Yeah, but lets keep the OP in perspective- its a used berhinger, not a Bergantino or Acme.

I'd venture a guess that you could toss a very wide array of 10's in that spot with barely discernible difference in tone. I know what you are saying, really I do, but in this instance where price seems to be WAY more imprtant than maintaining the acoustical engineering integrity of the product.

To the OP- the biggest problem will be finding a 10" driver of 4ohm impedance. if you put an 8 ohm driver in there it'll create issues (as mentioned in above post).

I bought some mcm55-1740's on sale for a song... ifyou could find 4 of them at a price you are OK with then I'd bet they will be superior to the bugera's you have, will be easier to find, and will permit maintaining appropriate impedance. Series parallel wired 8 ohm drivers will be result in an 8 ohm cab.

just a suggestion.
