Bugera BVP 5500

Anyone have any experience with the Bugera BVP 5500 head? I have a Behringer BX4500H head and it's got great tone. I've had SVTs, Markbass, Marshall, GK and the Behringer has great warm tone compared to them. Just not the headroom. I was wondering if the Bugera head has great tone but a little more headroom than the Behringer BX4500H head. Also, I know that the Bugera has 4 preamp tubes but I've heard that with some manufacturers, the tubes don't even do anything. There's just enough voltage going to them to make them light up but they're not really in the signal chain. In other words they're just for show. Terrible huh?

Wait for this:

Their tube stuff seems to be more reliable from some reviews, that's weird.

It looks interesting but I don't want to get stuck with one of these. Others have had experiences with them blowing up and catching fire. Sounds like you got lucky with your original Behringer. Maybe you will get lucky again. Bugera = Behringer, after all.

I have heard this amp online. The BVP is supposed to be a copy of Ampeg (B2RE?). If you like Ampeg, you'll probably like this. It's not going to sound exactly the same, but close.

It is a copy of the Ampeg SVT-3 PRO.

I would prefer to save a little and get a used 3 or 6 PRO on Ebay.

Bugera is a terrible brand. They copy good designs with crappy parts and labor.

But if you must get that bugera, I can tell you that the Tubes do work and they are in the signal path, as it is an exact copy of the 3 PRO.

It might be a little difficult to take a pic while you try to extinguish the fire.

But this gets pretty close:

Grab a thermal camera and show what's getting hot.
What's the speaker load and line voltage.
An understatement is not everything on youtube is real.
Show another brand amp that survives the same test.

Chances are if there was any systemic problem with these amps B* would have already fixed it. They don't make money on warranty returns
