Building an Aguilar DB112 copy

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all! I have a DB212 I rarely use due to the smaller gigs that I've been playing lately. I used to have a DB112 that I loved, I was think'n of gutting most of my DB212 parts to make a DB112 replica.

What do you think?

If you have a DB112, what are the exact dimensions of the cab? I took all the measurements (which were different than what Aguilar gives) when I had mine (I was going to make a NT) but seem to have lost it (of course).

Let me know if you have any tips or advice (dangerous, I know) on the build/ alternative materials.

Excited!

It'll work fine if you do one exactly 1/2 of your 212. Run them both through WinIsd to get proper port tuning, ie: see what your 212 is tuned to and what port area is needed to get the same frequency in the 112.

Agreed. Divide the box volume in half. Keep the same port length, but cut the port area in half. Do all of these things and the port tuning frequency will stay the same.

Right on, so I don't necessarily have to mimic the DB112 design/shape, as much as have the same volume and tuning? If it's a different shape, it's going to sound different, right? Or doesn't that play a factor?

Are there any DB112 owners out there that could take some measurements? Just in case? Thanks!
