Use a guitar cab for the dirty/effects side.

Guitar cabs are voiced more in the upper midrange for bass, and usually handle distortion better, too. You get your bottom from the clean/bass cab side, and dirt from the o/d distortion side through the guitar cab. A 212 guitar cab should suffice, since it's easier to hear that range.

Not if you filter out the lows and don't use excessive amounts of power. Just being smart about it goes a long way.

I did an SVT-II + 610 clean / 5w Vox head + AlNiCo 10" dirty setup for a few days. Tons of fun. Too much hassle to set it up though. It's all about trying what's out there and finding what works for you.

Sounds like way too complicated for my tastes. I use two amps in a stereo set-up, one with highs and mids, the other with mostly low bass tones. I was never happy with the bass sound through a guitar amp, always sounded too thin for my tastes. It's all a matter of what sound makes you happy.

I don't disagree. They're voiced differently. That Vox could do icepick treble all day long and I pushed it for light, bright top end OD. I ran the II full range and used it's pre out to the Vox's input.

An Alembic F-2B would do nicely there IMO.
