Buying amps from GC quick question!

Sign in to disble this ad
Im gonna be buying a GK MB 210 from guitar center. Should I buy the one that they already got on the floor? I would order one offline but im trading my Ampeg BA115T and $390 for the GK. What do you think?

Yeah, if there's no problem with it then get the one you play.

I believe that the one benefit to getting a floor model from GC is that if you want to return it, you don't need to pay a restocking fee.

I would ask for a discount if you buy a demo.

Check for any dings, dents, scratches or scuffs... make sure it all works like it should. When i bought my Ampeg 4x10, all they had was the floor model, and they didnt give me any discount when i asked

Then walk. You are buying used equipment.

I've bought floor models of a different variety of amps from GC and usually have better luck with ones that come in a box from the back. I've been buying from them since 1986 so I can't recall every purchase!! :-)
My LMII, out of the box has been flawless. My F1, floor model, still new has had some issues.
My MarkBass 1x12 combo cab, floor model, petered out after 6 months. They gave me my money back toward store credit.
Maybe it's just the Markbass stuff.
What I do is simply ask if they have one in a box. If they do, I take it out of the box, plug it in just to make sure it's working.
Floor model stuff is heavily messed with and treated differently by different customers.
Back is better IMHO. :-)

Have the store order it for you. If you get it from the store, they will take care of you should anything go wrong with it.

In my experience, they've always been exceptionally willing to order you in an unopened unit, and, in one case of mine, even offered to ship it to my home at no charge.

I'm a fan of GC as they've helped me out in many ways professionally over the last 13 years.
I will say this: be careful WHAT you order from them. Certain things can be delivered quickly.
One of my students, however, waited over one year to receive a MusicMan bass she ordered through them. I blame the wait more on the factory than GC but it still took a while.
Other than that, GC is willing to work with their customers.

I would've walked without the cab and bought from another dealer.

We don't have GC here in Canada, but anytime you buy a floor model piece of gear from any store here, you get a little discount.

They really expect you to pay full price for something that hundreds of other players have used, and possibly damaged? No thanks.
