Then I'd be looking at 10 to 15 hours of assembly and finishing time to boot. Even if I were good with wood project assembly (I'm not) and I spent $20 on finishing, charging myself $10/hour, I'm looking at $920 for a self-built fEARful 15/6/1, not including shipping for the kit.

That's a pretty serious investment, compared to the ready-to-play TB153 at $589. (And personally, I work so much that I don't like to give up my free time so cheaply.)

I'd be more willing to consider a professionally assembled fEARful 15/6/1, but I doubt I'd find one for under $1000...

Which begs the question: will a pro-built 15/6/1 really sound so much better than the TB153 that it's worth double?

Maybe it is... Problem is, I've never heard either one.
The fEARful is moar better.

There is a link in my sig, if you dig around you will find a map of fEARful users. most of us are more than willing to let others come and pound on our cabs.

Hmm?

Taking my TB153, 4ohm to my local speaker repair shop tomorrow morning. He's going to see if its' the xover or the mid-6" that's making all the distortion in my cab. He says he can build me xover cheaper than me ordering a new one from Avatar.

Any reason I should ask him to find me a 18sound to replace what's in my cab now? Or will it not serve its' purpose without building the chamber? Don't want start rebuilding/designing the cab at alot of cost.

So, if he can make a good/better xover than what went out in my cab and get it back to the way it was, I will be happy with that. Just wondering while its' in his hands. I should prolly discuss with him.
