buying from GC

Sign in to disble this ad
ok, i bought a new ampeg svt pro 7 from GC about a month ago. this amp is suppose to come with rack mounts. says on the ampeg site they are included. they were not on my 7 pro. the guys at GC don't have any idea what i'm talking about. they try to tell me that they don't come with it. they finally said they can order them for me for $26 plus shipping. what? they are suppose to come with it. so i called ampeg, and they said no problem and are sending my out a set today. for free!!!!

thank you ampeg CS.

i usually don't rant about businesses, but this is the icing on the cake for me with GC.

I generally don't have problems with GC, though a lot seem to. Sorry to hear about your experience, they really should have tried harder to help you out with what was supposed to be included in the first place. A call from them to Ampeg could have fixed the problem without costing them, and left a customer impressed. Glad the issue was resolved for you.

I bought my used Markbass equipment from two different GC's in the Pittsburgh area. I feel that I got good deals, but I did notice that generally speaking the sales staff don't know their products well enough. I manage a credit union and I can tell you that my staff knows all of our products inside out and can answer any and all questions. I usually walk away from GC saying to myself "Why don't these people take the time to learn what they are selling"

Well, I'm not trying to start a GC bashing thread. Just fed up with them. I know these guys really well and have shopped there for years. Although 90% of stuff I have to return. I don't buy used stuff anymore from there, cause they don't check it out before taking it in. They usually get junk that no one can sell on there own.

GC is a huge corporation, and as such, the quality of the individual employees varies greatly from store to store. I live within a short drive of 4 of them, and only one that I'd actually shop at- the other three being staffed by moronic apes.

If rack mounts are included, they would be in the box. If it was an open box/return you should have been informed of that and the price lowered accordingly.

Just like Walmart and Trader Joes, GC enjoys a position of considerable influence over which manufacture's policies will apply to them or not. I know of several examples where this influence has been exerted to GC's benefit.

I asked them to check the box and they said they didn't have the box anymore and assured me there were no rack mounts. They just now said they could get them for $26 plus shipping. That's why I called ampeg. I asked GC to call ampeg, they said they did and told me ampeg said they didn't come with rack mounts, I would have to buy them. I called BS on them.

The 7Pro (new in box) comes with rackmounts. So, if they weren't in the box, either (a) They weren't packed by Ampeg (overlooked) or (b) you bought a product that someone at GC opened and rifled through.

But yes, the SVT7Pro is supplied with rack ears......

It's easy to deal with something like that at GC. Just print out the page from Ampeg (or whatever manufacturer) and take it in. That way there is no discussion necessary.

Well, easy enough, I got ampeg to send me some. I didn't feel like "fighting" with GC over this anymore.

I did show them on the web site the day I bought it. They said that one didn't come with them, that's why I asked them to call ampeg. This is the answer I got from GC. I just decided to take matters into my own hands.

Man, I wish that was my case. I'm sure it really depends on each store. I'm sure some are really good. Unfortunate, I live by one that is not great.

I've never had any problems shopping at GC either but what you can do it walk back in there with your paperwork from Ampeg and see if they'll give you a credit. And be sure and talk to the manager and I'm sure none of the rest of them have the authority to take care of you.

Of course if it's been less than 30 days, you can tell them that you'll be happy to return the amp and buy it elsewhere.

I think the guitar center kid just thought you were dumb enough to order them from him so he gets commission. I love how guitar center doesnt include the skb hardshell case with mia fenders even though they are sopposed to come with a case.

Got my 7 pro from MF, and it came from rack ears.
Another reason not to buy from GC.

yep, about 2 months ago i bought a brand new fender mim p bass. they tried to make me pay for the gig bag that it is suppose to come with. that was a fight in its self. then trying to get the "case candy" that was suppose to be in there just wasn't going to happen. i gave up on that one.
