Buying used equipment

Just a few questions to anybody that could help me uderstand buying used bass gear. #1. How firm are chain stores such as GC, Sweetwater etc... on the prices of used equipment. #2. Are their any other dealers besides musicgoround & daddys.com that are geared for used products that have decent prices & great CS and last any other knoweledge that anyone could share?

No, the prices aren't firm. Check out Elderly Instruments for great used instruments that have been thoroughly checked out, at a fair price.

Thanks, the closest GC is about 2 hrs away. There are a few localy owned stores around but, not much of a choice used wise

This website is probably your best bet for used gear. With a little searching yoiu can go back and see who has owned it and probably some correspondence on each time it has sold. Check the sellers feedback and follow the threads.
Great resource.

Elderly will not ship used amplifiers -- they are sold for store pickup only.

I figured as much...yup, looks like it is road trip time for you. Hard to ship amps without proper packaging.

Customer service isn't generally something that you find with used equipment unless you buy locally....and often.
