Blown speaker. Push it in and out and listen carefully for telltale scraping sounds.

I wasn't clear-- this is a constant buzz, not a buzz as I play. This is all the damn time. You hear it between songs, not during. running the amp through the PA, which I prefer, isn't possible because of this noise. it's not a 60 cycle buzz, either.

The best advice on the internet about repairing electronics is to take it to a tech.

SWR buzz

Are you sure it's not 60 cycles?

Approximately what is the frequency?

Is there a tube in the head? Try a different bass with it,
or better yet, nothing plugged in. Ground loop?

It's going to a tech for sure. I like to walk into any repair situation with an idea of what's wrong. It buzzes with nothing plugged in, so I th ik I may have aground problem I couldn't get to myself. thanks to all.
