At practice tonight I had a constant white noise coming from my speakers.It was not affected buy the volume knob,the volume knob of my bass,the mute switch.Nothing.The amp worked fine otherwise.
It was driving me nuts......The I pushed in the tube bypass button and it went away...Am I to assume that it is a bad 12AX7?

| | Hey, what does this knob do? | | Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: New Hampshire | | | In the meantime, take a phone plug with the tip shorted to sleeve (or an instrument cable with the plug at the "other" end shorted tip to sleeve) and plug it into the effects return jack. If the amp's quiet now, the problem's in the preamp. If the amp's still noisy, the problem could be in the power amp. The reason I say "could be" is because the power supply is common to both the preamp section and the power amp section, so if you hear the noise in both cases, perhaps at different volumes, the power supply could've gone noisy. |
