Hi, I am new to the forum. Actually been playing guitar for more years than I care to admit, and am setting up a studio in my home to do some recording. So I thought it would be convenient to have a bass for laying down some tracks.
I picked up a couple year old Ibanez SRX 350 with active pickups, and yesterday I came across a fresh trade in at GC for a mint Fender BXR 100. I was actually talking to the guy who was trading it in, and didn't want to steal the deal from GC because I do a lot of business there.
Buy anyhow, so I paid GC 99 bucks for this and it is in brand new mint condition just like it came out of the box. I am a seasoned musician, but not a seasoned bass player. I love the way this thing sounds with the Ibanez. In input #2 designed for active pickups the combination turns out some sweet thick, rich, deep tones, and the highs are not stellar, but the mids cut through pretty nice.
Anyhow sorry for the long post. Is there any way I can find out when this amp was made. The serial number is M747998 Type PR233. Made in Mexico. Any idea what year it was made?
By the way I compared this to the Acoustic 100 on the floor brand new and that sounded like a box next to this BXR. They were both 100 watts, but you could drive the BXR to peak levels and it was solid as a rock. No buzz, no hum, no blurp etc. Look next to what you guys are using this is amateur hour, but I was really impressed for my small gig and studio needs.
Wow this is getting long. The weenie was the customer who was trading it in was willing to do a parking lot deal because they were only offering him $50 on the trade. But I would have had to give him the 75 to 100 instead of the store and I didn't want to steal the customer off of the floor. Hey I see this going in ebay for up to 200 and this thing is absolutely mint, the guy never used it. I see they went for $385 new. I just would like to know what year it is. Thanks for listening.
