Which Cab to Add, HELP, I'm Confused

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings,

I really hope I can get some advice. I would like to add a cab or two for use in mid-size venues. I never play big shows but I do play outdoors a bit. I just sold a 4x10 and 1x15 setup because I am looking at going to higher quality gear.

I use a Bergantino 112 for practice and at Church with a good PA. I need to add more cabs for my other shows but can't afford the big bergantinos.

My power comes from a GK 700 rb2 or a 800rb. I have looked a variety of options.

1. 2 x GK neo 212
2. 1 GK neo 212 or 410 and my berg on top
3. 1 GK Neo 212 and a neo 410
4. 1 GK neo 212 and a neo 112
5. 2 GK neo 410

Any help on these combinations or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. At this point I can't decide anything, I'm so confused

The SAFEST option is to get the same cab. You know that it will sound good. It's possible that other combinations of different cabs could work, but you can't know for sure unless you try them out. If you buy another Berg 112, you're gonna get the same tone with more volume.

I'd try an 8Ω neo 2x12 with your Bergantino. If it sounds like crap, then get another neo 2x12.

If you want to run two cabinets the thing to watch out for is that they must be 8Ω each and no lower. You are limited in your choice by the 4Ω minimum of your amplifiers. If you go lower you will damage your amps.

Thanks Paul, Good point, I will be buying 8 ohm gear.

No one seems big on any of the 4x10 options?

As long as both cabs being run are 8 ohms, then any combination listed above will be safe to use. The rest is based on the taste of your ears.
