Cab for a bassman 100? And a mod question.

I have a silverface bassman 100, and I'm wondering what the best cab option is for the most volume in one big cab.

Also, is it possible to get more power out of it with bigger tubes?

I used a Marshall bass stack with mine back in the day. Plenty loud.

I'd imagine any BFM design would be ideal, just as they are with any low powered amp.

With a tube swap alone, no.
Combined with a heftier OT and PT, yes.

Any options for a more conventional/traditional cab than the BFMs?

The horn loads are going to be the loudest, pretty much no matter what but they don't have to look like that if you don't them to, you can finish them in tolex and grillcloth. In a "traditional" design, you're basically looking for the highest SPL speakers you can find and getting the most of them you can in a box you can still carry. Forget about xmax/excursion, etc., there's not enough power for it to matter, especially when it's divided up between 4,6 or 8 drivers.

I play the 135 version of your amp, and still do sometimes for small gigs or nice tone at home but I moved on from it for general gig use (for bass that is), just not loud enough without hauling around a mountain of cabs.
