Looking for a single cab to complement my Genz STM900. Narrowed it down to these two (at least for now). How do they stack up to each other in terms of performance? I play loud fast punkrock, usually with PA support, sometimes without. If we’re without, it’s generally a basement show or small dive bar show. Generally not much (if any) louder than (semi-loud) practice room volume.\
Financially, the two cabs are close enough to consider them equal. Headache-wise, the Genz wins. I can call and order it from a multitude of places and it’ll be here in a few days. The fEarful, I’ll have to either build myself, or find a builder that will do it and send me a flat-pack, which I’ll have to assemble, finish and load.
So yeah. Help a brother out, wouldja?
Please and thanks
mlw.

IMO the nEarful buries the Neox, even though it's a great cab. There is NO comparison and I wish I had not sold the nEarful. I flipped it ONLY because it was 8 Ohms and I wanted a 4 Ohm cab for my Walkabout. IMO the fEarful (and similar) cabs are a huge stepo up from stock, especially if you want real lows and clarity throughout the whole range.

there are several folks who can build you a complete Fearful; you can find a list of builders at greenboys page...speakerhardware.com is one.
In terms of sheer Db output, a 1212 Fearful with two LF drivers is going to subtantively outperform the GB Neox1212.
Which tone you would like better is a different q.

My only real sticking point right now is whether to do a 1212/6 or a pair of 12/6s…

I've found the NeoX to be more than enough for me even at outdoor shows paired with my Shuttle 9.0. FWIW, I've never played a Fearful type cab.

Not a true Fearful in baffle layout, but, a lot of the performance for fractional cost.
You could test drive it, see if you like the concept, if then decide if having the concept 100% to spec was your thing.

| | | Let me help...
A 12/6 + sub would be handy if you do little stuff, and figure you'll spend a lot of time packing half of it around one handed all over the place. It will also cost more and overall be heavier, and take up either two hands or two trips to get around when you need the whole thing.
1212/6 is handier if you don't do much little stuff, or need the whole stack most of the time. It's a single easy one-handed trip on tilt-back wheels to/from a vehicle. No fiddling around stacking it up together and running multiple cables... just park it and rock it.
I suppose all of that is kindof obvious, but... those are the real differences.
Either vs the GK? No contest. |

so.
1212/6 it is
(soon)
