Cab connection question

Sign in to disble this ad
If you wanted to connect (4) 8ohm "single input" cabs to a head that was stable down to 2ohms but only had (2) outputs, what would be the best way to make this work?

Well, without altering the amp or cabs, you'd have to make a pair of Y cables capable of handling speaker level signals...

Otherwise, adding parallel jacks to 2 of the cabs for daisy chaining would be a good route to take...

Do NOT just use a Y cable intended for line level applications for this - you'll be sorry if you do...

I had a very similar situation years ago............

I went to a music store that made speaker cables to order and had them make me 2 cables.

Each cable had one big connector for the amp end, and one 3 foot section, and a 6 foot section for connection to the cabs.

All 4 cabs were stacked (2X2), the head went in the middle of the top 2 cabs. The shorter 3 foot section went to the top cabs, the 6 footers to the bottom.
