Cab cutting in and out

Sign in to disble this ad
My cab is cutting in and out what could be the cause of this? I have isolated the problem to the cabinet I just haven't had time to open it up and explore. It is a 4x10 of unknown manufacture but I suspect it is a Crate as I bought with my BT350. Thanks in advance for the help

Open up and explore.

Assuming it is the cab, the most likely point of failure is the input socket. If there's two sockets to chose from, see if you have a good one and a bad one. And wiggle the speaker cable around a bit and see if that reproduces the problem.

If it was a speaker problem, I wouldn't expect all four to drop out at the same time. So I'm expecting a single failure point like the speaker lead or socket.

Is there a horn in it? If it doesn't make sound either, then it's a connection issue between the crossover and your amp. Check Speaker wire, input jacks, and crossover for starters.
